INROADS
INROADS is North Americas premier organization for
the professional development and preparation of talented minority students.
Partnerships with more than 900 national and international companies have
provided close to 10,000 INROADS graduates with the professional skills
they need to excel. INROADS alumni are represented in leadership positions
in numerous sectors of corporate America, as well as in the nonprofit,
legal and medical fields.
Since 1970, the INROADS formula for success has allowed
students to tap into their potential and realize their dreams. The two
to five years of training, coaching and experience created for interns
are a result of the collaborative efforts of INROADS and leaders in business
and industry.
As a partner of the INROADS program for many years, Vulcan
Materials Company is committed to providing career-related internships,
intern development, employee mentors, competitive salaries and financial
support to the INROADS organization. If you would like more information
on how to participate in the INROADS program, talk to your school counselor
or contact your local INROADS office. You may also visit the INROADS website
at www.inroadsinc.org.
Heres what two participants have to say about the
INROADS program at Vulcan:
My experiences at Vulcan have been nothing less
than exceptional. I have come in contact with some of the most wonderful
people who are always willing to lend a helping hand and aid in my development.
While at Vulcan, I have learned a lot about diversity. There are many
different people with quite a lot of differences among them. Being at
Vulcan has taught me that these differences are not as uncommon as I once
thought. One of the most memorable things about Vulcan is their family
orientation. Everyone always speaks to one another, and everyone treats
each other with great respect.
Jabari A. Brown, Engineering Major
My experiences at Vulcan have allowed me to mature into
a young woman. I will be turning 22 years old in a couple of months. When
I look back over my internship, it amazes me how much Vulcan has helped
change me from that 17 year old girl back in 1997 to the young woman I
am now. No matter what happens, I will always appreciate how Vulcan gave
me a chance to become a better leader in corporate America.
